Woodlands New Mechanical
Fall 2011
kc&b geoexchange was invited to size, quote and ultimately install geothermal systems, all plumbing and mechanical for this customer built home. With a two story open/below design, built from foundation to roof with ICF (concrete), kc&b geoexchange was challenged to provide both heat and cooling equipment that could not only provide the correct temperature but also optimal airflow. Because of ICF construction, the home was determined to be extremely energy efficient but needing increased airflow. Challenging but well within the abilities of our team.
Project Achievements
a second independent forced air geothermal unit for garage climate control
completed on time and on budget
successfully implemented 2 independent furnace systems using one ground loop
with open to below area from second floor, c/w open stairwells throughout, air supply/return proved challenging, but was achieved for both winter heating and summer cooling of the second floor.
when kitchens are designed with high output range hood exhausts, air balancing becomes problematic with air exchange. Change ups in fan speeds and restrictors achieved balancing.
no project is without issues, and when leaks appeared in the kitchen ceiling, from a custom shower above, our commitment to satisfaction found a resolve, and the end result was just that.
